In a nutshell, Dragons' eDen is junk modelling, with the addition of taking business issues into consideration.
Manufacturing costs, sourcing of materials, retail pricing, profit and loss, branding, and lots of other business issues that designers need to consider in the real world are some of the topics covered at Dragon's eDen.
Once students have designed their eco products they have the opportunity to present/pitch their ideas to a team of dragons. These usually comprise of Max (he likes to play the role of Deborah, who wouldn't), a few teachers, local business people and sometimes we even get the dreaded governors involved. The experience of pitching an idea to a group of adults is extremely daunting and nerve wracking, but it ultimately teaches them important life skills such as presenting, team work, and thinking on your feet.
