Green Office Week was last week, and I’m a little cross… nothing to do with them, but my blog admin went doolally, and as a result, I was unable to put this post up… some naughty sausage thought it okay to hack into my blog… Why? Who knows! But all sorted yesterday…Phew! And I’m free to chat about Avery Green Office Week, AKA GOW… GOW empowers UK office workers to make a difference and to help their office environment work for the natural environment in practical ways. I got to work with them by setting a junk modelling challenge, to encourage green behaviours in offices… and because it’s fun!
Through research, Avery have found a direct link between being ‘green’ and/or working in a ‘greener’ environment with overall happiness in day-to-day lives including at work. As a businessman as well as a creative head, I can fully understand the challenges of being ‘greener’, whilst trying to operate a successful business… but if there are options; fun ones; easy ones, and most importantly, options that are encouraged by everybody in your workplace, then obstacles become less difficult. Now that GOW has researched and set the awareness, it is our job to implement greener changes for the benefit of our own sanity and happiness, as well as being kind to the environment. To support everyone wanting to live and work in a ‘greener’ way keep updated on GOW’s Twitter. And for all you parents out there – it’s Walk to School Week – which means you can reduce your carbon footprint somewhat ;o) – and enjoy the amazing weather that we are finally experiencing this year. Oh yeah, before I sign off, check out my May column in Bedfordshire News, and read of my proudest moment…
